Hi, everyone!
Jet and I made it past all of the rivers on the west/northwest side of the island.
We took a few detours and I've been moving kind of slowly.
So, I think someone could reasonably make the journey in about four days.
We could shorten it if we can put some nice sturdy logs down across the river branches near the hotel.
I think that could really help in making it easier to get down to the base from this side of the island.
No animal attacks! :)
But we might have just got lucky.
We did hear some weird stuff going on the day before yesterday, though.
Did anyone else hear a sort of rhythmic thrumming?
I wasn't sure if it was just over by us.

What meaning?
Crab meanings???

But it sounded like the Pacair's language.
Somehow loud enough that you were hearing it all the way on the opposite end of the fucking island, but nevertheless, humming and clicking.

What was it saying?

"I brought my spirit to the sea,
I stood upon the shore,
I gazed upon infinity,
I heard the waters roar."
It took a few iterations to fully parse it, so I wrote it down as I was figuring it out.
What's particularly interesting is that it was spelled out exactly like that, minus the punctuation.
The Morse used by the ordinary members of their group seemed to be based on a simplified version of English with more phonetic spelling.
Only their leaders spelled things out properly.

Don't know if you noticed, but the last of it right before everything went quiet was different.
It wasn't repeated so I'm less sure how accurately I'm remembering it, but I think it was something along the lines of "life goes on because I allow it, don't forget".

begging your pardon for being extremely fucking literal, you think they were bumrushing the ocean?
no subject
I mean, that is more or less what they did.
But if you're suggesting the crabs themselves were the source of the chanting, then I'll have to disagree on that one.
My guess is the crabs were just the weapon being brandished in that threat.

It's pretty obvious to anyone with eyes.
Who would have guessed crabs were capable of that kind of deforestation?

Y'know, avoiding the swarms of crabs engaging in said deforestation.
But their path is pretty fucking clear just from the swaths of destroyed jungle.

Further evidence of where they went.

Right.
Wonderful.
That's just great.

The Pacair's god is real.
Or at least, it's an entity with some kind of god-level power that inspired their faith.
no subject
You think something like that could really exist?
no subject
We're a bunch of random interdimensionally-displaced assholes that were summoned here via unknown means.
There were just giant crab amalgamations barreling through the jungle.
An elephant fell out of the fucking sky.
At this point, I'd say anything is possible.
no subject
Weird things can happen, sure.
But there are still usually rules?
Maybe they're different from our own universes.
But I think we should still be a little skeptical about what's possible and not.
We can't just believe every possibility might happen.
no subject
What, did your world not have Boy Scouts?
no subject
Be Prepared for interdimensional travel, crab monsters, dinosaurs, and whale gods.

Just saying.
apologies! i lost this tags somewhere along the way
That's more my point.
They wouldn't have been prepared for all those things.
I'm also not sure how we're supposed to prepare for every single potential possibility when they're all off the wall.
'Expect the unexpected' only works if you have access to the supplies and people to use them.
Not to mention the time to build what you might need.
And it's not like we could even fight something like those crab masses.
Not unless you want to forge me a cauldron big enough to hold them and stoke a fire big enough to boil them.
