[ LO431Y | TEXT | 030 ]

Hi, everyone!
Jet and I made it past all of the rivers on the west/northwest side of the island.
We took a few detours and I've been moving kind of slowly.
So, I think someone could reasonably make the journey in about four days.
We could shorten it if we can put some nice sturdy logs down across the river branches near the hotel.
I think that could really help in making it easier to get down to the base from this side of the island.

No animal attacks! :)
But we might have just got lucky.
We did hear some weird stuff going on the day before yesterday, though.
Did anyone else hear a sort of rhythmic thrumming?
I wasn't sure if it was just over by us.

Who, the crabs?
I mean, that is more or less what they did.
But if you're suggesting the crabs themselves were the source of the chanting, then I'll have to disagree on that one.
My guess is the crabs were just the weapon being brandished in that threat.

Have you actually looked out at the jungle yet?
It's pretty obvious to anyone with eyes.
Who would have guessed crabs were capable of that kind of deforestation?
aluminumandash: (he's been known to down eleven)

did you witness the crabs entering the ocean or not

No, I was inside at that time.
Y'know, avoiding the swarms of crabs engaging in said deforestation.
But their path is pretty fucking clear just from the swaths of destroyed jungle.
aluminumandash: (and I see in them traces of last year)

Close enough to see a fuckton of dead crabs washing up on the shore.
Further evidence of where they went.

If you need to treat it as a favor to not assume others are idiots, then you're an even bigger narcissist than me.

[Though this is kind of a pot-kettle situation given he's definitely had a habit of assuming he's the smartest person in any given situation and proceeding accordingly.]
aluminumandash: (closer to the bottom of a turn in)

[personal profile] aluminumandash 2023-10-27 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
well that is some refined ass name calling. [ It'd been half a joke—not that Rust's sputters of humor are typically received any better. ]

can you tell how they died? bodies look beaten up?

[personal profile] timaeus 2023-10-28 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Not name-calling, just stating facts.
Anyway, I haven't gone down to do any crab autopsies yet, but I can if you want to know that badly.
aluminumandash: (but I'm going to alaska)

[personal profile] aluminumandash 2023-11-04 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah [ He lingers over the word, but he does, in fact, very badly want to know. ]

whether they look torn open, that kinda thing. patterns, tracks. aint expecting you to be a crab anatomist.
