[Martin's day isn't going well. And he's shouting as loudly as Squalo had been on the first communication. He's also very clearly running.]
May day! May day may day may day! Oh, god! Oh, god! May day! There's- Drone. Electricity spikes. Oh, god! East jungle. Close to shore!
[His responses to things may be delayed depending on whether or not he can escape the thing.]

Stop shouting and hide. Now. Hunker down, stay still and quiet.
[Alas, she doesn't know that it's already spotted him.]

Running from it! Hiding.

Hi. I'm still alive, but it got me. Electrocution and some sort of injection that knocked me out. I'm in a cell. Decent size. I can see two drones on pads. There's a third pad, but that one's gone. No other people. But there's a computer. Can't tell if it's on, but there's definitely power here.

Welp. Maybe he'll rescind that offer to meet up if it comes with a... "drone?" (what?) and... did this guy say "electricity spikes??" Lalo pictures a giant flying taser with electricity jumping between its prongs.
But he told this guy he was a cop so now he's gotta try to look like he cares or some shit. Lalo yells into the walkie, trying to sound frantic. ]
Shit! Get down, man! Hide! Get low and crouch. You hear me?
[ It's vague and obvious advice, but it sounds like the kind of thing a slightly high-strung goody-two-shoes might say if he's panicking and desperate to help someone in dire straights.
Also please don't bring that drone whatever thing near him, thanks!!!
He'll deliberately wait a few minutes before continuing. ]
Martin? You there?
Response on Morning 002
I'm alive. In a cell. It looks old. I can see the drone that attacked me. Or... ones like it. There are three pads. Two are here. One's probably out. There's a computer. Looking around for the keys.

[Can't sound too concerned, after all! But he does follow it up after a few moments, at least.]
hey, can you see those mountains from where you are??
no subject
[There's no particular inflection. He doesn't even sound annoyed.]
no subject
okaaay well can you see what kind of lock the cell has?
not here

There are deadbolts on the cell door, but there's a keycard reader on the wall next to it. I can't tell if there's a physical lock to pick on the front of the door, as well. Working on a way to figure that out.

Tape recorder. Uh- Throwing!
[There's a brief pause, and then:]
Shit.

Rust checks in every two hours or so—it gets less exact once the sun goes down, but he keeps it up through the night. The message the same, his voice the same. Just Martin's callsign and "come in." ]

I'm here. In a cell about as long as I am tall. Around 6 feet. I see the drones that took me, or ones like it. There are two on a set of three pads. Think the third one's out on patrol. Find good cover if you hear the humming, they're too fast to outrun when they spot you.

How big?

[He can't actually tell that well, but it's huge.]

See any place you could hide? Rocks, trees, caves, whatever would be narrow enough that it can't follow.

[Martin's message cuts off abruptly, but is followed by a series of shorter messages, like he's clicking off an on from the transmission button. The first message is a helpless scream with mechanical humming in the background. The next few are just the sounds of movement and humming. Then another with a slightly less blood-curdling shout.
And then nothing until the next morning.]

Hey? What's going on? Still alive?
[ Is there something in the jungle that's hunting them? Suddenly he's not so sure about his plan to follow the river. Maybe he should just... stay on the beach where it's safe. ]
[ It's a shame, though. The guy seemed nice. But Squalo has no idea where he is, and he wouldn't get there in time to help anyway. ]
