Hi, everyone!
Jet and I made it past all of the rivers on the west/northwest side of the island.
We took a few detours and I've been moving kind of slowly.
So, I think someone could reasonably make the journey in about four days.
We could shorten it if we can put some nice sturdy logs down across the river branches near the hotel.
I think that could really help in making it easier to get down to the base from this side of the island.
No animal attacks! :)
But we might have just got lucky.
We did hear some weird stuff going on the day before yesterday, though.
Did anyone else hear a sort of rhythmic thrumming?
I wasn't sure if it was just over by us.

More boars? :(

We were lucky that the people here only incurred minor injuries.
And I assume you haven't heard, but last night Maddy disappeared as Zam did.
no subject
I'm glad you and the rest are okay, but that's awful!
All of it!
No one found any kind of trace of Maddy at all?
[...]
Oh, no.
Her callsign's gone.
And so is Eduardo's.
There are others missing, too.

Supplies that Maddy was carrying were found, but no tracks or traces of the girl herself. Two others were with her. They said they looked away and she was gone.
[She is still so hurt by “Ben”’s lies to her specifically that she's not that concerned about him.]
As to the other, he may have simply died again. Who do you turn to for help after deceiving everyone that way?
no subject
Not that he was attacked, but that we've got a lot of food.
We definitely needed to replenish the stores.
We're out of the jungle and back on the shore, so we'll keep an eye out for anyone washed up.
Maybe Maddy or Zam will? :(
[He agrees with Randvi, so he'll just... not mention Not-Ben again.]

Thank you. I hope so. I was told that Maddy did not have her radio when she disappeared, so I'm not certain whether she will be able to call us.
no subject
If we find anything else like it, we'll be sure to bring it with us back to the base.
We've hit... a lot of rivers.
Or branches of the same river.
There's a massive waterfall over one of the cliffs to the north.
I'm hoping the radio might wash up with her again?
Like it did when we first arrived.
I still think they might follow us around a bit.
no subject
It's possible that her radio may reappear with her. Zam’s disappeared when she did.
no subject
And for both of them.
And everyone else who's vanished.
[Except maybe 'Ben.' Martin could do without him for a while.]

I can send a list of some of my most important stuff?
I’ve picked up a lot of odds and ends since waking up here.

[The detective had been concerned that Ben might try to track people down for things they're carrying.]
If one of you is taken away, the other can bring your things back here and I will guard them.
no subject
Ideally, we'll both come back, though.
Now I'm healed up, I feel like we'll be able to make better time, too.
no subject
I'm glad you're feeling better.
no subject
But we'll work on that.
And I'm glad, too.
Talk about ideal situations...
Nothing got infected, thank god.
Shaw helped me clean and dress the wound, so hat's off to her on that front.

I hope she's feeling better.
And not doing anything... inadvisable.
no subject
She has not taken very well to resting, no.
no subject
We don't need her getting hurt again.
Or exacerbating anything.
I definitely know how frustrating it can be.
But as long as she's somewhere safe, it's okay to take it easy.
no subject
I will tell her. I'm concerned about these carry over effects.
no subject
But that's why everyone should avoid dying.
In my time we have a saying:
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
There has to be some sort of price for getting revived.
It can't be easy, however it's being done.

I know you did your best.
[He doesn't actually know, but a response like this means they were probably feeling very bad about it.]
