Hi, everyone!
Jet and I made it past all of the rivers on the west/northwest side of the island.
We took a few detours and I've been moving kind of slowly.
So, I think someone could reasonably make the journey in about four days.
We could shorten it if we can put some nice sturdy logs down across the river branches near the hotel.
I think that could really help in making it easier to get down to the base from this side of the island.

No animal attacks! :)
But we might have just got lucky.
We did hear some weird stuff going on the day before yesterday, though.
Did anyone else hear a sort of rhythmic thrumming?
I wasn't sure if it was just over by us.

I keep a list of them, and any of their items that anyone found. In case they return.

Ideally, we'll both come back, though.
Now I'm healed up, I feel like we'll be able to make better time, too.

I agree, but I have seen very few ideal situations here since arriving. Best to plan ahead.

Nothing got infected, thank god.
Shaw helped me clean and dress the wound, so hat's off to her on that front.

Oh, that was kind of her. I suppose at this point she knows better than most what it's like to be restricted by an injury here.

I hope she's feeling better.
And not doing anything... inadvisable.

She has not taken very well to resting, no.

Tell her to take it easy for me, would you?
We don't need her getting hurt again.
Or exacerbating anything.
I definitely know how frustrating it can be.
But as long as she's somewhere safe, it's okay to take it easy.

I will tell her. I'm concerned about these carry over effects.

For sure.
But that's why everyone should avoid dying.
In my time we have a saying:
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
There has to be some sort of price for getting revived.
It can't be easy, however it's being done.

We didn't ask for this. For me it's something stolen, not a gift.

I know.
It just meant that for something like that, the amount of power or expertise or technology.
It can't be something without a cost.
I'm sorry, though.
It is... stolen.
Not being able to die permanently here is its own sort of horror.

There are ways to deny someone an afterlife but I have to admit that this is one that I had not considered.

Yeah.

['I've seen this before,' would sound... weird. Martin holds that in.]

But we're going to work on getting out of here.
And you back home.
So, you can get to your proper afterlife.

[There probably isn't one, but if she believes in it, Martin's not going to trample over that. She's been kind to him.]

I do believe that if it's possible to break free from a place like this, our group has the skills to do so.
