Officer de Guzman's dead. [ If anyone was hoping for a eulogy, it's not fucking happening. ] Took an arrow to the shoulder then was executed, from the sound of it, likely with his own firearm. He was in the region I just described, about a kilometer away from a wood cabin with no defenses or occupants he could discern. Guessing he walked into some kind of a trap. [ He concludes, irritation seeping into his voice. ]

Much as I hate to state the obvious, circumstances compel me to say: do not seek out the cabin. Hell, I'll say it twice: do not seek out the fucking cabin. You find yourself in an area suspiciously quiet and bereft of animal activity, turn around and go back the way you came.

The individual who killed him had a message for us. It follows.

I think all of these details could be important, no matter how insignificant they may seem on the surface. They could help us figure out what exactly we're dealing with here. When I first woke up on the beach I found some nickels with the dates 2033, 2037, 2040, 2060, 2063, 2069, and 2074 on them. No way of telling whether they originate from this world, but if they do, that might give us some indication of the year.

Nothing as interesting as a secret agent I'm afraid, I consider myself more of a musician. [ Just not going to mention his former profession right now... Humans had forced him to do it, anyway. Creating and playing music is what he chose for himself. ] And you're close. An android.

Do you know if anyone is compiling a list of information like this? That could be useful along with the map. Though maybe safer to do it off-radio since we don't know who else is listening in.

[ K figures he can just memorise any information he learns, but a written log that everyone can contribute to in person might be good, especially for any newbies who might show up... The only major flaw is that so much relies on other people being willing to help and share and not lie. ]

Since waking up here I've actually noticed I'm... different. Inexplicably weaker than I should be, and require sustenance in a way I never did before. Have you been affected like this? Good idea. I haven't found a way to store information on the radios yet, so that'll be the only way to keep it circulating. I do have a pen and some paper, so I could make a physical copy in time.

What, planes? That's meant to represent a head-on view of a very old style of plane and what I suspect was used here. Old to me, that is. Where I'm from they've largely been replaced by spacecraft and other flight capable vehicles.

I'm sure I have some pictures on my phone of old planes... They'd give you a much better idea than text pictures could.

Do the wings move?

They have some flexibility but they're not like bird wings. Inside each are reinforcements meant to prevent the wings from bending. Bending too far can damage them and compromise the integrity of the plane, meaning it becomes harder to control and it's more likely to crash.

The wings are shaped to enable air to move faster over the top of the wing. The faster air moves, the lower the pressure. The pressure on the top of the wing is less than the pressure on the underside, and that difference in pressure is what creates enough force to lift the plane upwards.

It's a bit different from the mechanics of bird flight. Birds generate thrust (the force that moves a bird or plane forward) by flapping their wings, for planes it's achieved through other means, not the movement of the wings. I hope I explained this well enough for you to understand.
