VL121R | Day 2 Morning | Text
I’m southwest of the mountains, near the shore. There's an abandoned village here.
A central square, strangely paved, surrounded by several metal longhouses and an odd tower at one end. It's been abandoned for quite some time.

But if you make it, I wanna know what you see.

[He doesn't need to know that she fell climbing something else yesterday]

[ I wonder if we can handwave somewhere in this convo that they have a similar one to the one we did on the TDM just to get that outta the way. ]
no subject
The beach I arrived on was cut off by the tide’s arrival and I had to climb a cliff face to escape.
no subject
Well after a cliff I guess a tower seems like a walk in the park.
Still, don't die.
Let me know if there's anything interesting you can see, like a boat that might have crashed somewhere. Boats in this case might be made of metal, not wood.

[It's an hour into the midday block before she messages again]
I’m at the top. No boats, but there’s another settlement near me.
no subject
You didn't die! Ten billion points for you, Randvi.
[ He's a brat but he is genuinely glad she's okay. ]
Boats would have been too easy but I had to check.
What do you see in that other settlement? Signs of life? Or...how do I put this.
Do you see any metal things that would be a long, thin metal rod sticking straight up off the top of a building? It might have other thin rods sticking off it at horizontal angles or at diagonals. It might look like an abstracted weathervane to you.
[ He's talking about an antenna but there's no way she'd know what that is so he's trying, here. ]
Something like that might indicate a communications center. I'm trying to get to where you are but it's slow going.
no subject
[Probably not important]
[Weathervanes are hot new technology in Scandinavia at this point so it's not a bad comparison]
Not that I can see from here. I think there was something like that in this tower, but someone’s torn it apart already.
It looks like several small thatched-roof buildings - perhaps the houses I was expecting to see here - and a large tower. It's bigger than the one I'm in now, almost like a fortress.
I think I can get there from here in an hour or so.

About an hour before nightfall he answers again: ]
I finally made it to your village. Your tower. I can't climb it like you can, but when it's light tomorrow I bet I can find some absolutely fascinating things here. I might have more context for some of it than you will, considering the time difference.
[ He hasn't even told her about the petrification and all. :') ]

[When Randvi answers this time, it's audio and she's on the move]
Are you near the longhouses, or where that terrible bog is?
[Not a fan of the gross pool]
no subject
I can be near the bog - I'd call it a pool, I can explain later - in a few minutes.
A shame it's so...polluted. I need a water source sooner rather than later. Or something to put water in, anyway. We can boil river water to make it drinkable if we get a fire going.
no subject
I've set up a device to catch rainwater, but I'm not sure how well it works yet.
no subject
I might be able to improve the design, depending on what materials we find. Probably not tonight in the dark, but I'm good at improvising.
[ He probably sounds like he's bragging but he's also not wrong. ]
Do you have food? I have five little fruits and some mint.

[ He's done weirder! ]
