It takes a couple of days for symptoms to show up, but if she was bleeding a lot it's possible any bacteria were pushed out of the wound. Tetanus is in soil mostly, so it's important to keep the wound as clean as possible. It's okay if you can't boil the water you use for now, just as long as you get rid of the dirt. She'll probably need stitches...

[ Steph's brain is working in overdrive, and she's talking half to herself. The words come out in a rush. She's considering how to get a needle and thread sterilized for this. But it's okay if that waits, it'll just heal kind of ugly. ]


You probably know to look for muscle convulsions, but also watch for headache, fever, sweating... oh, trouble swallowing, and if her heart seems like it's racing.

Missing teeth might've saved the bones... Keep an eye on any swelling, if it seems to cover more area than it should, or if it refuses to go down. You probably know to keep it elevated... See if she can still move her toes, and her foot. No way to get ice... Do you know what it looks like when a wound gets infected?
