[Taissa has woken up in a new place much farther than ever before. It's too warm, even for night. The tropical trees growing just inland of the beach only confirm that this is considerably south of New Jersey. Her clothes are soaked through and she doesn't remember being in the water. Was there a shipwreck? There must be other boats nearby. The coast guard, or somebody, should be out there.

She picks up the only thing outside of herself that she has found on the sand so far. It looks like some sort of emergency radio. She listens to only a snippet of a message before calling out herself, but it sounds enough like military jargon to give her hope of timely rescue. She attempts to sound calm through her shock and confusion. Loud and clear.]

Hello? Who am I speaking to? This is Senator Taissa Turner. I seem to be lost and in need of assistance.

[Also in need of a quick transceiver tutorial, clearly.]

Jesus. And you have-- sorry, what was it you said you had to get back home to? Petrified...?

[ He takes a minute before he answers, because he's entirely aware of how people take this. But he does answer. ]

Petrified, that's right. Didn't happen where and when you're from, obviously, but the world I came from, every human being on earth was petrified in the year 2019, including me. Took me a long ass time to wake up, a little over 3,700 years. Most of the world's population is still petrified. I know how to save them, but I didn't have the means until recently.

Then this shit storm happened.

[ He laughs, that same laugh he uses as punctuation, especially when he's nervous or feeling some kind of feeling he'd rather not express any other way. ]

Bunch of people on this island think I'm out of my damn mind. You can think what you like, but my scientific knowledge is ten billion percent guaranteed to keep us from dying in the jungle regardless of where any of you came from or what you believe.

[She is also going to take a minute. No, actually. several. She eventually settles on the possibility that this is A Beautiful Mind scenario. A schizophrenic like Lottie, who unlike Lottie had apparently done better in science class. It's the scenario that's best for her own mental health at this point.]

I will definitely appreciate any further knowledge you have to share.

[Which is her way of trying to diplomatically indicate that nothing he believes will be a problem unless he makes it a problem. She wants to survive, first and foremost, and appreciates that logic.]

[ He's not an idiot, of course. He's completely aware that most everyone on the island thinks he's batshit. It only bothers him slightly, but it only bothers him because he hates his credibility being in question. He doesn't care if people don't believe him about petrification. He cares if people think he's too crazy to trust his science knowledge. ]

You need to make something, ask me. I'll tell you how. I know more science than you've heard of.

[ He's only bragging a little bit. But it's also just true, he knows an ABSURD amount of things! ]

Beyond that, if you get to this part of the island, I can show you a couple things that might make you believe me a little. I don't care one millimeter if you don't, though. I'm gonna get everyone off this stupid ass rock and back home anyway. Someone's got to.

[Whether or not she ever believes him. With the unique things she has to look forward to on this island though, Taissa will likely be coming to terms with some new concepts a lot sooner than she can imagine.]
