Maddy is alive! She is unharmed and here with me at the village. Her radio is still missing so you may receive messages from her originating from my callsign.
I mean I know this is gonna sound crazy but idk. It was like I was just in the jungle, and then it's like I blinked and I was back by the airfield. I don't know what happened. I'm serious. It was crazy.
[ All things considered, it sounds like it was harder on the people worried about her than it was on Maddy herself. ]
Sorry ppl were looking for me. Nobody got hurt or anything, right?
As in returned to the physical state you originally arrived in? That's good. I've heard that could happen after a death. But it really doesn't sound like you died. I think you might be the first person who's returned after disappearing.
Unfortunate about your radio, though. Where did you last have it?
I'm out checking the weir.
[ And trying not to worry about the unusually low amount of fish that've been turning up... Maybe he just needs to try another river for a while. ]
That’s really good news! Glad she’s back and okay. It’s weird your transceiver didn’t follow you, though, Maddy, when we all mysteriously washed up with them. I hope it doesn’t mean someone else has it…
[ Someone else could have her transceiver??? A possibility she hadn't considered until now. ]
omg thanx Martin <3 I'm glad to be back! You think somebody else might have it? Should we try to text it? If somebody else has it, do you think they would answer?
[About five minutes later, Martin's transceiver crackles with an incoming message from Maddy's callsign - followed by about a solid minute of loud, harsh static that is only faintly modulated. Then it goes quiet.]
Unless it was screaming for help? That would be okay!
Where did you actually lose your radio? Maybe we can get an idea with the location? Like we know the Hunter's up on the northeast side of the island. Or if you lost it in the ocean... maybe our shark friend?
Because everybody kept saying they might be bad for us. Then that dick who lives in the cabin said he was going to come hurt me. So I thought, what do I even need this for anyway?
[There's a brief moment where Martin pushes up his glasses and pinches the bridge of his nose. He breathes and regrets many of the life choices that have brought him to this point.]
Okay. I can definitely see the logic. But I think if we find your radio, you should keep it this time. I think it's more important for you to have a way to call for help than it is to worry about the Hunter. I won't say they're not dangerous, but there are more uses for the radio than risks. At least for right now.
Depends on who it is. We might be able to reason with someone reasonable. If it's someone like the Hunter, they're probably be a dickhead about it. But let's cross that bridge when we actually get to it. I'm not sure how we're going to be able track your radio down. Maybe people have picked things up that might help? You could have Randvi ask on the network or borrow her radio to do that yourself.

You don't need to apologise, it was out of your control. And not that I'm aware of. Randvi could tell you.
[ Because Randvi and Senku tend to be everyone's go-to contacts at the airfield; K feels rather out of the loop. ]

But I still don't have my radio back so I'm borrowing.
She said they didn't. Where are you right now?
lol now that I know where K physically is on day 35...

That's actually a really good idea!
Remind me what your callsign is?
I can try to ping it to this conversation?

Can you read this message?
Have you found this transceiver?
Please let us know.
The original owner is looking for it.

Okay, so... weird things happened when I pinged your callsign.
A lot of really harsh static.
But... I think someone tried to respond?
no subject
Please tell me you're joking...
Who???
[ Maddy... how would he know who? ]
This is officially creepy now.
Is there any way for us to know where they are?
no subject
Sorry!
At least we know someone has it?

Thanks for all of your help.
You're a really cool guy, Martin. Don't let anybody ever tell you otherwise, ok? Or I'll scream.
And yea.
I wonder who tho?
And what they're going to do with it?
[ It's not like it matters, right? It's just a dumb radio anyway. But she appreciates Martin trying to help her find it, anyway. ]

Please don't scream for me, though.
[That would be weird???]
Unless it was screaming for help?
That would be okay!
