Hey! I think my comm just sent out a distress call. Sorry, ignore it, I'm totally fine.

[ Her voice is sheepish and a bit flustered. It's obvious that she pushed some buttons without thinking. ]

I found a plugin and apparently that's what it does, it just... doesn't come with any instructions. I'm pretty sure I turned it off? But I unscrewed the thing too just to be sure.

Oh! Speaking of plugins, I found what looks like an SD card, but it's just a little too small for the slot on the comms. If anyone finds something that it could plug into, let me know.

That's a little square thing, an SD card. Like... as thick as your thumb, and a little longer? Made out of the same stuff as the comms are.

Are you kidding? I'm glad you took me along. Climbing that mess was fun.

It was. My only regret was that the roof was too unstable to climb. The view from up there would have been exciting.

You'd've loved the Gotham rooftops. Some of the buildings are 10 times higher than that hotel. Best view in the world, if you ask me.

I don't think I could stand to live in a city like that but I would love to see one.

True, and it's not a great place to visit, either. If we get the chance I'll try to take you someplace nicer. We've got machines that will carry you all the way to the top, so you don't even have to climb.

I dunno, I didn't hear about that. But probably? It's called an elevator, it's a huge box that moves up and down.

He called it a “lift” I think. It sounded like a platform to bring supplies to the top of the cliff. Like a pulley system except that it doesn't work.

Oh, yeah, maybe! They call it that in some places. It is a pulley system, it's just too heavy to be moved by hand, so a machine does it.

I would like to see even that. All of these self-propelled things.

I'll make sure to let you know if I find anything like that. We know there's some stuff that works around here, even if it's only the lights.

Technology is just a tool like any other. Besides, you're not thinking about the little things. These comms we're talking on probably run on electricity. Though they never seem to run down, so it might be an even more advanced power source...

Yes, so far we have not had to sift through debris searching for 'batteries' for them as we have with other items.

It's difficult to know how far we can trust these, but communicating instantly over such long distances is undeniably convenient.

Well, that depends on what exactly you're expecting from them. I guess you could imagine it as if you were shouting over that entire distance? The security is probably about the same.

Of course. And then sending one of these messages privately is like a letter that could be intercepted.

Yeah, more or less. They get the job done, but I wouldn't trust them much farther than that.

I know some people here are concerned about whoever brought us here intercepting our messages but I don't doubt they can hear us regardless.

I'm sure. They can probably track us with or without the comms, too. And they definitely know our names.

I'm sure they know more than that. The item I found that fell during the storm had Senku’s name on it.

Yeah, that part's just weird. Maybe we fell out of the sky too? But that raises even more questions than it answers.

I think if we had fallen the way some of these items fell, we would have been worse for wear upon awakening! Unless we all died on impact and were immediately revived, but that seems inefficient.

I try not to think about it too hard. We're nowhere near close to having any kind of answer.
