Hey... does anybody know if there's anything to make shoes from here? Like, real shoes. I'm tired of walking around barefoot.

I mean like, real stuff. Not nasty animal hides.

I can try to make you something too if you want. I guess. I'm at the airfield. Hit me up. Or... there's this guy K? He's like a robot or something? I think he can sew too.

You guys all need to dress way better. This is sad.

Does anyone here even know how to tan leather?

Actually, come to think of it, I'm not sure anyone's really hunting that regularly. There's no game around the airfield, at least.

I think if it can be skinned it can be made into shoes.

[ Don't think too hard about that statement. ]

It'd actually be really useful if someone could make any kind of fabric. I spent like, four hours picking the threads out of a bib I found.

[ Is that... is that a serious question? Oh lord it is. She does her very best not to sound condescending. ]

Well, cotton is a plant. So is linen. Otherwise they're mostly from animals. Sheep's wool, alpaca fur is really soft, rabbit hair, s-- [ No don't say silk, you'll have to tell her it comes from bugs. Don't force that knowledge on her. ] --sssoft stuff is always popular. I think cashmere is a kind of goat?

[ Nice save. ]

[ That's a good question. ]

I dunno, history probably? Cotton, linen and wool played pretty big roles in the development of civilization.

For starters, cotton trade was one of the driving forces behind slavery in the United States...

[ But she could give an entire class on this question, so she should probably stop here. ]

I wouldn't say you need it. The knowledge is interesting, but knowing what the process is and how it works doesn't make it any easier to put it into practice. I dunno what kind of materials are available here, either. Or how to spin thread, weave, or anything like that.

I had a hell of a time trying to weave a basket. Sewing skills really don't apply.
