[The voice that comes over the radio is quiet, since he's not sure if this area is safe, but matter of fact. This equipment had to be military, so while he's never used one he easily switches into a more official mode.]

I seem to be on a beach with white sand.

My name is Randvi. You're on an island, but none of us know much about it. We have established a small village in the southwest. Do you know how to determine cardinal directions by the moon?

I just woke up here. I don't seem to be hurt.

[He takes a few moments to look around. He was better at using things like what side of trees moss was on to find his way, but he's had to use the stars before.
Also he takes a few moments to glare at the moon, it it was out, cause fuck that guy.]

...The ocean is south and west to me. And there's a mountain to the....north east.

All right. I believe that you are to the south of us. If you can make it here we have food, water and shelter available for anyone.

Be cautious if you are planning to come to us - a severe rainstorm occurred several days ago and the rivers are swollen, fast-moving and full of debris.

There is a large tower partially destroyed by fire directly to the south of us that can serve as a landmark.

What's...uh...what wildlife should I watch out for?

It is difficult to say. The recent storm was… unusual, to say the least. It may have brought in creatures we have not yet encountered.

I have not seen any dangerous creatures in the southern region myself, but I have heard talk of great beasts in the sea, and I found a severed reptile leg in the river that was very large.

[ Maddy is a little confused. The voice sounds like it belongs to someone her age, but the content of the message doesn't sound like any teenager she knows.

She tries to help anyway. ]

Uh. Hey. I'm Maddy. [ She wracks her brain. She's not really very good at knowing what questions to ask that would help somebody in this kind of situation. But she tries. ]

Okay, so, like... besides the sand, what else is there?

[She sounds much less 'official' than Randvi, but he's not ready to give up on the assumption that this was some sort of military or organizational network yet. It was much easier for him to act like it was than to try to suddenly talk to people he doesn't know and can't even see.]

Not really. There's the water but then...its just sand, but its white. Is that normal here?

[He's never really been to the ocean.]

I mean.... like, I don't know. I guess it depends? Lots of beaches have white sand where I come from. It's not really that weird.

[ She hesitates. ]

But I don't know what's normal here. I don't think anybody on the radios does. Some guy told me there are locals, but they don't talk on these. Anybody who can talk to you on this isn't "from here."

How many people are on these? Are you at the village too?

[ Not mean, but blunt and maybe just slightly snotty: ] How should I know? Not everybody who has one of these uses it. [ Then she softens. ] And yeah. I'm at the village. It's safe here. They have soap.

Are you good to get here by yourself, or do you need help? We can send somebody to get you. If you need it.

If you run into a river, go upstream. You'll find a place where it's safe to cross eventually.

I don't have any intel for anything, it doesn't matter what I say.

[ Well, they can mostly trust the people they talk to face to face (not that Levi really does, save for a few exceptions), but considering there's a bunch of callsigns who have never posted anything, it stands to reason that people other than new arrivals may have access to the transceivers and simply keep quiet about it. ]

You may be right. But even if there's nobody after you in particular at the moment, being careful could save you some headache later.

[ Or ambushes. Or death. ]

[ And they don't know who might show up, either. Levi's still expecting somebody from the other side of the war to show up, if they're not already here, and he doesn't intend to make himself an easy target. ]

...I guess you're right. I've never used one of these things before, I don't know how to treat it.

[It was still probably alright that he asked for help, he thinks. Better than being lost and alone in unknown territory. But maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to scout out this village before entering it. Just in case.]

I guess if it's dark there's not much to see. Can you tell which direction the ocean is on? You might be able to use stars for orientation. If not, you'll know because of the sunrise in the morning.

Pretty much everyone wakes up here the same way. We still don't know how or why, or if there's a distinct who doing this to us on purpose.

I have some theories I'm working with but I need more info before I really nail them down.

The first thing you probably need is food and water. If you're near the southwest of the island, that will be easy to help you. If not…well, we'll figure it out. Most of us are pretty good at helping each other out.

None of us remember how. But yeah, the village would be north of you from there. We got food and water and other supplies. It's a lot to take in at once, but you're lucky you're not all the way on the other side of the island!
