[The messages come slowly over the course of a few minutes as Martin types things out.]
Hey, Randvi and K!
Hope you're doing all right.
Wanted to let you know about a couple of things.
I told K earlier, but just so you know, Randvi, there are very, very large bears in the jungle.
The one we encountered was 10-feet tall, at least.
Maybe K can show you how tall that is?
I'm not sure what measurements they use in your time.
But it's really, really tall.
Thankfully, we didn't fight the bear, and it just went after the food we had.
Probably want to keep any food stores secured away from you.
And then we also encountered a dinosaur today.
Like a raptor-style dinosaur.
I'm not sure how best to describe this for you, Randvi.
Sort of like a dragon?
It's a really, really big and dangerous lizard with feathers that walks on two legs and has very sharp claws on its hands.
It had to be 9 or 10-feet tall.
We're trying to get out of the jungle, heading into the foothills.
Just slow-going with Jet and Kk's injuries and me still getting dizzy.
Ben is alive again.
He's the man who Detective Cohle posted about dying.
I told him he should probably head down to your camp for safety.
But I wanted to give you a warning.
I'm a little bit concerned about him.
He's not in a great mental place, I don't think, especially after dying, and he has a gun.
That's a weapon that's sort of like a slingshot, but it uses metal instead of stones and there's a mechanism that does all the hard work of swinging for you.
Just keep an eye on him.
And maybe don't leave him alone with Senku for too long.

Are you all heading for the airfield too? I think you'd be safer there.
The local wildlife. Sounds like a case of insular gigantism maybe.
It can happen to species isolated on islands, they grow much larger than their mainland counterparts.
Doesn't explain the dinosaur, but that's very interesting.
Could be they never went extinct in this world.
We're currently out looking for Zam. She needs help and Senku suggested we go.
He stayed at camp.
Do you think Ben poses a threat to himself or us?
Should we be concerned if he reaches Senku before we're back?
I don't know much about Ben.
And while we're exchanging information.
I found some nickels on the beach when I first woke up here.
Portrait of Thomas Jefferson on one side, Monticello on the other.
They're dated: 2033, 2037, 2040, 2060, 2063 2069, 2074
So it could be the year 2074 or later in this world, assuming these aren't from someone brought here like we were.
Might be useful information, might not, but I thought it's worth mentioning.

We went into the foothills to try to avoid more predators.
It could also be animals are getting dropped in here the same as people.
Timelines don't matter.
Like Randvi and Senku being from really, really different times.
Oh, gosh. I can't believe more people are washing up on the island.
It's really troubling.
But it's good you're going to help! :)
I think Ben's a danger to everyone just now.
When I met him, he seemed like he just has a lot of, like, excess energy?
He's one of those guys that's really on.
And then you have what just happened and he's scared and messed up.
And he's running around responding to everyone on the message that Cohle sent out.
Feels like he's doing the 'look at me, I'm so okay, I could never be MORE okay' thing.
Which is concerning.
I don't think he's going to intentionally try to hurt someone.
But he seems reckless.
You've met Senku.
Is he sensible enough not to go and do reckless things while you're gone if someone tries to talk him into it?
Year stuff is interesting.
Sol, one of the call signs I've spoken to who says they're on a different island, got nervous when I started asking about the year.
Not sure what to make of it.
If this world is post-apocalyptic, maybe they don't know the actual year anymore?

Please be careful. I hope you find more food.
I am not concerned about Senku trying anything too reckless before the supplies from Squalo are delivered. If both he and Ben arrive before we return then we may have cause to worry.
Finally, I return to my regularly scheduled life... Mostly! Thank you for your patience. <3
Yeah.
That sounds like something it could have done.
From the sound of it, Ben might be farther off than Squalo.
I hope so.
Squalo also seems kind of reckless, too.
And you're right.
Him and Ben together might not be... great.
But it'll probably be fine!
[Probably.]
❤️
Imagine a face here.
[Smug amusement is beyond her emoji capabilities]

Seems like he's really into Vikings.
And you do seem really cool. :)
K teased me, saying we were starting a fanclub for you.
If you know what that is?
Or... fans, in general?
no subject
The idea that someone would compose such a song for me feels a bit absurd.
no subject
But fans are short for fanatics.
They're just really excited and like someone or the things they do.
Mostly you see it for famous people in my time.
Or sport.
Like if there's a team you support and you're really passionate about their victories, you'd be a fan.
no subject
[Sorry, she can't help it]
:)
A sport is a type of game? People care that much about others’ victories in sport?
no subject
Sure. Someone needs to be!
But I'll leave Squalo to be the leader of the club.
I've got someone else I'm just a little bit more passionate about. ;)
Sport is a sort of category.
It's all sorts of different games.
Athletic games, mainly.
Running and jumping and things like that.
Or things where you play on teams.
People care about a lot of things that probably seem strange in my time.
We don't have tribes to go to battle with anymore or celebrate.
So we find other ways to sort of... find an identity?
For some people, it's telling everyone that they're a big fan of some football team.
And they can find other people who really like that team to be excited together.

[being out here under the stars makes her melancholy. How many times had they looked at the stars together? The constellations here are unrecognizable]
Perhaps we can speak of such things when we meet.
It does seem strange to me, though I suppose we do have well-known figures where all of Norway is invested in their victories. We still speak of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons.
[if Randvi is really going to be the first queen of England maybe they'll speak of Sigurd that way as well someday]
Are you affiliated with one of these teams?
no subject
I'd like to hear about her.
[He'd... maybe been listening in on her conversation with Squalo.]
I've never been a big fan of any teams, no.
I'm not exactly built for sport.
And most of the people I knew in school who played them were sort of mean.
Put me off of it.
And my mum was sick while I was growing up.
Didn't really have time for teams or going out to games.
It was fine, though.
I'm happy hearing about things other people are passionate about.
Living vicariously, you know?

[Even in Ravensthorpe the children sometimes gang up on one another for reasons only children understand]
I am sorry to hear about your mother. I think I understand what you mean.
no subject
Sorry.
School's mandatory for children.
Up to 17-years-old.
Which probably isn't a kid for you.
Childhood is a lot longer... later on.
You don't need to apologize, though.
It was just us against the world. :)
[And it was miserable. Random strangers don't need to be apprised of that.]
And here, it'll be all of us against the world.
I like our odds there.

[Randvi was too young to remember her mother's death, though it feels like she does because her sister’s told her the story so many times. That's not something that needs to be said either]
Not inclined to bet against us?
no subject
I don't bet against my own interests when I can help it. :D
no subject
no subject
Keep safe, Randvi.
Best get back to things.
I'm betting on both of us.
